The Science Officers Report

The Passenger’s Log 14 April 2021

You may recall from an earlier log that Dr. N, The Passenger’s Pulmonologist here locally was not convinced that what we were dealing with was strictly IPF, (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis) but that other things he was seeing on the biopsy were not explained by that diagnosis alone. Smart man that Dr. N! He summoned the Pulmonary Pathologist from the Cleveland Clinic and requested a complete review. An initial report came through today and with it a glimmer of hope among the dark clouds. With the caveat that this is preliminary, the Pulmonary Pathologist wants to review all of the CAT scan imaging and they are scheduling another chest x-ray as well as an echocardiogram. Still, there are areas within the lung that appear, based on their findings, that could be responsive to steroids. If this is true, the steroids Dr. N. began last  week may have an effect on the rate of damage that is being done by the fibrosis.

As always, we trust fully in Christ and even now we praise Him for this bit of news. If what this doctor is seeing, there are actors within my lungs that the steroids may bring into submission. If that is true, the spread of the IIPF may be slowed. Keep checking back, or better still ‘FOLLOW’ the blog and you’ll get the updates as they are posted!

God bless!
